Collie Calling

9 AM Start Time

6f413412 c20b 47dd a469 b7a13c04b8c4

This week we will start out by visiting Brian Collie at the Avamere Rehab center. Brian is a long time PV member and ride leader, always ready to help others. He has been caught in some of the most challenging situations a ride leader could face and brought them to happy conclusions.

Brian is recovering from several broken ribs and fractures to his pelvis. We will roll through downtown Hillsboro and pass by Avamere Rehab where Brian Collie will be waiting for us to pass by. Those groups that want to can stop and visit with Brian.

This week's route is Collie Calling (44.8 miles, 977 ft). FENDERS!!!

We start out on Century Blvd going south to Main, turn west on Main and go all the way to downtown Hillsboro. At 7th St we turn south and pass by Avamere Rehab where Brian Collie will be waiting on the right side.

After leaving Avamere we continue south on 7th to Maple and make our way on River Rd to Minter Bridge and south to Burkhalter. Across Burkhalter-Simpson-Tongue-Golf Course-Lafollette-Geiger to Forest Grove. North to Kansas City and Roy. Return through North Plains, Meek and Starr.

Please be sure to download the appropriate GPS file to your computer (tcx or gpx). And print the map/cue sheet or pick one up at the start. Let's try to avoid the collapse into one large group because only 1-2 people have the route.

Route Caution Areas:

- Mile 11.0: Cross OR-219
- Mile 19.3: Cross OR-47
- Mile 29.2: Cross OR-47

A shorter route is also available: Collie Short (30.0 miles, 661 feet of gain). This is a good route for those who want to spend extra time with Brian.

At our core, we’re a community of cyclists who love to ride our bikes. It doesn’t matter if you ride 14 or 24mph, whether you enjoy 35 mile or 75 mile rides. We don’t care if your bike cost $900 or $9,000, if you’ve been riding one year or twenty. What matters to us is your passion for cycling, that you care about safety and you enjoy riding with a great group of like-minded individuals.

Our club motto - “It’s All About the Ride!” - speaks volumes about who we are and what we’re about.
